Product basics
What is Ackmail? +
Ackmail is an Outlook and Gmail add-in that lets you acknowledge an email
and share your working status — Seen, Working on it, Completed, and more
— directly on the thread, without sending a reply email.
How does Ackmail reduce inbox noise? +
Instead of everyone on a thread replying "Got it" or "On it" — which
creates a new email for every recipient — Ackmail lets you set your
status in-app. Everyone sees it instantly, and no extra emails are sent.
Does Ackmail send a reply when I acknowledge an email? +
No. Setting a status in Ackmail does not send a reply, reply-all, or any
new email. Status updates are shown in-app to the sender and recipients.
What statuses are available? +
Seen, Working on it (with an optional ETA), Need more information, Will
update soon, Blocked, Delegated, Scheduled, Completed, and quick
reactions like Congratulations or Thank you.
Can I add an ETA? +
Yes. When you set your status to "Working on it," you can attach an ETA
(for example, "2hrs"). Ackmail can remind you if that ETA passes before
you mark the item done.
Platforms
Does Ackmail work inside Outlook? +
Yes. Ackmail runs as an add-in inside desktop and web Outlook today,
appearing directly on the emails you send and receive.
Does Ackmail support Gmail? +
Yes. Ackmail includes a Gmail add-in that lets you set acknowledgment
statuses directly in Gmail. Outlook and Gmail are supported as separate
integrations — full cross-platform status synchronization between
Outlook and Gmail threads has not yet been validated and is not part of
the current release.
Can IT administrators deploy Ackmail? +
Not yet as a managed, org-wide deployment. Ackmail is not currently
listed on Microsoft AppSource or the Google Workspace Marketplace; once
listed, IT administrators will be able to deploy it organization-wide.
In the meantime, organizations can
join the pilot
to try Ackmail with their team.
How it behaves
Who can see my Ackmail status? +
The sender and recipients already on the email thread can see the
status summary for that thread — the same people who could already see
the email itself.
Does Ackmail replace email? +
No. Ackmail is an enhancement layered on top of Outlook and Gmail. It
does not replace sending or receiving email.
What happens if Ackmail is unavailable? +
Normal Outlook and Gmail sending and receiving continues to work.
Ackmail is not part of the underlying email-delivery path. See our
Security & Privacy page for details.
